2008-2009 Professional Training Program

This training is for qualified mental health professionals with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Discipline of Authentic Movement.

The program is designed for those who want to deepen their own process, learn to facilitate the work for others, and explore the use of Authentic Movement in therapy. The course of study offers an opportunity to study and practice with a small group of committed students. It will consist of:

  • three three-day intensives (Friday-Sunday)

  • two individual telephone consultations

Each intensive weekend will include opportunities to integrate direct experience with theoretical understanding.

The training will focus on Authentic Movement as a therapeutic form, a contemplative practice and a creative process; participants will have the opportunity to explore the relationship between in-depth therapeutic process and embodied contemplative practice.

The three-day intensives will be held at a beautiful retreat site in rural Boulder, Colorado, which offers total privacy and an opportunity to be close to nature.

One-On-One Training for Therapists and Facilitators

The Center offers one-on-one intensive weekend trainings. Please contact Zoë Avstreih for more information.

Facilitator's Seminars

For mental health professionals who are currently facilitating the form, the Center offers a weekend advanced seminar to deepen your study of the form through direct experience and theoretical discussion. Facilitator's Seminars will be offered in 2009. Please check back for details or email Zoë Avstreih with questions.

Retreats

The Center will offer intensive retreats in Boulder, Colorado and Eliot, Maine. These two, three, or four-day retreats will provide a direct experience of the body as a gateway to awareness. Retreats are open to professionals and laypeople who have previous experience in Authentic Movement.

They are suitable for people with a developed inner witness who can stay present with the intensity of direct experience and the accompanying emotions.  Please check back for details and schedule. We plan to offer retreats in late 2008 or early 2009.
